Abstract submission

The ISA2015 Scientific Program Committee invites the submission of abstracts on original work. Abstracts can be submitted for consideration for an oral, mini-oral or electronic poster presentation. All successful abstracts will be published in the Congress App on the tablet to be given to the Symposium delegates, and will be published on the ISA2015 website. Presenting authors must be registrants at the Symposium. All abstracts must be submitted online via the Symposium website using the online submission form.

How and when to submit

Critical Dates for the submission of abstracts

  • Abstract Submission Deadline Sunday 1 February 2015
  • Presenter Notification Beginning of March 2015
  • Presenter Registration Deadline Sunday 1 February 2015 Registration link for the abstract presenters will be sent directly after abstract submission. 

Presentation Methods

During online abstract submission, authors will be requested to select their preferred method of presentation at the Symposium.

  • Oral Presentation: 10 minute oral presentation (excluding question time) within the X-Change sessions.
  • Mini-Oral Presentation: 5 minute mini-oral presentation (excluding question time) in the Rapid Fire Arena.
  • Electronic Poster Presentation: Electronic poster presentations, might contain up to 10 Microsoft PowerPoint slides, to be displayed in the I-Poster Area.
  • Moderated Poster Presentation: A selection of Electronic Posters will be selected for a moderated poster session

Presentation method preferences will be taken into account during the review and program development process.


Abstract Submission Instructions

Please read through the submission instructions below before preparing your abstract.

Step 1: Read the General Policies and Requirements for the submission of abstracts.

Step 2: Write your abstract, following the Abstract Guidelines.

Step 3: Select which Track & Theme best relates to your abstract.

Step 4: Review the Evaluation Criteria and Review Process for abstracts (below).

Step 5: Save your abstract text as a Microsoft Word document on your computer. Abstracts must not exceed 350 words (revised, December 1).

Step 6: Click the red Abstract Submission button above to enter the Abstract Submission Form. It will be necessary to copy/paste the Microsoft Word copy of your abstract and add the author details.

Step 7: Register to attend the Symposium by 1 February 2015. After abstract submission, presenters  will receive a link to register for the special fee. Registration will be required by 1 February 2015.

Evaluation Criteria and Review Process

Abstracts will be independently reviewed and scored by a minimum of 2 reviewers in November/December 2014, using the following criteria:

  1. Clearly written
  2. Internally consistent
  3. Indicates aims or hypothesis of the research/paper
  4. Describes appropriate methods/methodology
  5. Describes relevant results/describes main findings
  6. Draws valid conclusions from results/findings
  7. Is relevant to the Symposium audience

Reviewer scores and comments will be strongly considered when developing the Symposium program and offering presentation slots.

Travel grant

The IAS is pleased to announce its support for young clinician researchers whose abstracts are accepted for ISA2015. A limited number of travel grants, of up to $500, will be offered for upcoming international researchers in the field of clinical atherosclerosis. Read more here.
